The farmer and the scientist

A farmer and a scientist were walking across the fields at sunset. The scientist explained to the farmer:

“You know, when the sun goes down here, it’s because the earth revolves around the sun. And because the earth also revolves around itself to the east, the sun seems to set behind the horizon in the evening. And because the earth also has gravitation due to its mass, the earth has an atmosphere. And because the light in the air is refracted because of this atmosphere, the sun appears on the horizon in red color. And because the light has speed, it takes eight minutes until it arrives here on earth. In truth, therefore, the sun does not set at all, and also not in red color and especially not at this moment. “

The farmer, who had listened patiently in silence, looked at the scientist and asked: “And you really do believe that?”
