Suddenly, all the major US AI companies agree to limit the progress of AI development. Something highly dangerous to humanity must have happened—and everyone involved admits as much.
We are now faced with two options: either we let things take their course, in which case the likelihood of AI destroying humanity is high; or we agree to halt this development—assuming that is even still possible. But who could possibly do that?
The only way to stop this development is through a global surveillance state—the perfect dictatorship. No human being would have any chance of escaping this total surveillance. There is no other conceivable solution to this problem.
