The facts are simple:
We know since the beginning that a virus pandemic takes two to three years until 70 to 80 percent of people are immunized. Until then, the virus will multiply in a cyclical manner, in so-called waves. The coronavirus has now mutated and become so contagious that it only dies with 85 percent of immunized people.
In Austria, less than 65 percent of the population is currently immunized, i.e. recovered or vaccinated. This means that at least 20 percent of the population is still missing before the virus no longer reproduces. That’s 1.8 million people. These will be infected until the end of the pandemic.
In Austria the mortality rate is 1.2 percent. So far that is 11,641 dead people. This means that almost 22,000 people could still die from it. Globally, however, mortality rates are falling, particularly due to vaccination.
However , if the health system is overloaded because too many people get sick at the same time, the mortality rate rises. The currently highest mortality rate in the world has Peru with 9.1 percent, where the health system has collapsed. Calculated for Austria, that would be almost 165,000 deaths.
Maybe 165,000 dead people. Or less than 22,000. We all decide about this together. Let’s save every single one!
