The end of the West

In Afghanistan we are currently experiencing an apocalyptic catastrophe. Hell on earth is taking place around the airport in Kabul. Thousands of people in fear of death have the only choice between being executed by the Taliban or being assassinated by the Islamic State.

In addition to its aides, the US is leaving behind military equipment worth up to 80 billion US dollars. The head of foreign intelligence service CIA is forced to negotiate with the victors about the modalities of the withdrawal. The suicide attacks by the Islamic State follow shortly afterwards. The President and Commander-in-Chief is uttering helpless threats against the assassins in a ghostly atmosphere. It is the most complete and humiliating defeat of the greatest military power in history.

With the Disaster of Kabul, the supremacy of the West over the East is coming to a shameful end. It is well deserved. The US had been waging a “war on terror” for twenty years. Right from the start, this was as insane as it was hopeless. When could this “war on fear” ever have been won? Now we are reaping the fruits of this madness.

The war on terror had quickly emerged as an arbitrary war against the Muslim world. Now many are wondering why the democratic “nation building” did not work as it did in Western Germany and Japan after the Second World War.

There is a decisive difference to the Second World War: The USA and its allies (with Russia and China) won the Second World War by unconditional surrender. The USA and its allies (without Russia and China) have just lost the war on terror the same way.

After four hundred years of domination, the West is drawing to a close. In Afghanistan we have now seen its end.
